Artist and fellow Ealing-er Ellie Harrison has a profile piece in this month’s (May 11) Art Monthly.

This piece was in Vanishing Point at the Elevator Gallery last month.

Jo-Anne Balcaen makes work about popular music and fandom. In her video Long Shot (2007) she films herself driving to find the remote house of a member of a band she’s in to. Her matter-of-fact narration lovingly reveals the irrational rational of an ardent fan.

As she says herself  “What’s so weird about a lone woman walking on a dirt road in the middle of nowhere with a bunch of audio video equipment dangling from her neck?”
